Something I Want...

Something I want was today's challenge. I want my John Lennon tattoo... also I need the warm weather and week off (at least) to keep it open to heal since I want it on my foot... I also would love to have a Star tattoo for Ringo and maybe something for Paul to commemorate me finally seeing them in concert.... but first and foremost... the John caricature.

super productive day today! But I am back to work after 2 days of being ill... I am NOT looking forward to that mess... but onward!

Drawing Madness

I adore this challenge! Maris gets quite a kick out of it every day as well and is actually starting to draw actual things all the time now. I was drawing this doodle of fish when she came up to me and showed me her drawing of a game cube controller :) Quite random, but good! I love that we found this to do together. and there we have it - a short and to the point post.

ps - I am feeling much better. I think it was a 24 hour bug... and what a b*tch of a bug it was!

Something New? How about the flu?

so yesterday afternoon, I was feeling a bit off... very nauseous and tired... I decided to ignore it because usually when I am sick I HAVE to ignore it... I have kids to tend to. We went out to run some errands and ended up going to the mall to walk around (Jim let the kids pick something to do and they wanted to go look at toys - we went to Target) I figured I could get some ginger ale and feel a bit better with fresh air. I wanted to stay home, but Maris got really upset that I was so I ended up going instead of sleeping off whatever I had (better idea - let me tell you!) I started feeling really dizzy in Target and still tried to shake it off... We walked around a bit more and went to FYE. At this point, I told Jim I needed to go back to the car and he can do whatever with the kids while I rest it off... he said no way we will just leave... so as we were leaving, we ran into my sister and her fiancee and they ended up walking back to Target with us since they were headed there anyways. On the way out of FYE, I felt a wave of heat and dizziness and went over to the garbage can and puked soooo much... it was gross. Then fell backward and passed out. I woke up on the bench and then puked all over there... it was terrible. Its kind of a blur but we got back to the car and home where I was quickly quarantined in the bedroom with 2 buckets, a bunch of water and gatorade and ginger ale... some saltines and grapes... none got touched until about 2am... I ate one cracker and threw it up so I didnt want to eat at all. I must have slept on and off without really moving from about 4pm to late morning today... It is now 28 hours later and I am up and about... freshly showered and called out of work for tonight. I was debating going in... but I need to rest it off. I am not 100 percent just yet... but def feeling functional again. My appetite is finally back! I don't think I ate anything more than a few saltines yesterday... I mean ALL day. Thats probably why I fainted and made it much worse on myself. Its weird but no matter how much I knew I needed to eat, I was so queasy that the thought of food was absurd. Then I was so sick that I could barely move. So glad I am up and NOT throwing up. Bad news is that Jim started feeling queasy and now he is in the bedroom sleeping it off. I hope it is psychosomatic or else he's going to have a rough night. The kids are so far so good. Oh, and here's my daily drawing. I had hours upon hours of alone time in bed... and had the perfect subject matter haha I am still wondering what the heck hit me... Jim says stomach flu... some said food poisoning due to the stomach cramping and throwing up... and yes - the drawing has a misspelling in it... I was sick! haha it bothers me... but whats done is done!

Valentine's Day Party and Drawing Challenge Day 18

Maris' Pre-K class had their Valentine's Day Celebration today. Her school really goes all out for the holidays. It is such a nice place! I sincerely hope Jackson gets through the lottery so he can go too next year (the admissions are lottery based...) As I've probably mentioned on here before, he gets upset that she goes into the classroom to school and he doesn't get to. Oftentimes, I carry him away while he either screams or whimpers "school...." "I want to go to schoool..." One of the head teachers of her class is aware of this... so during the dismissal of class today, they sang the goodbye song for Jackson and he was just glowing :) It made my eyes tear bc he was just so happy to be included... When her class lets out at the end of the day, they release the kids to their parent one by one as they sing the song "*kids name here* had a fun day... *____* had a fun day and now she's going home!" Jackson's eyes bugged out when 30+ people sang the song to him :) I mean, he KNOWS the song from picking Maris up all the time and they actually sing it together in the car, so he really got a kick out of it.
The theme of her schools entire year is Wizard of Oz (not a clue why but it has been cute so far) so Valentine's Day was the tin man. We had to turn in gray shirts for the kids to make into a costume for the party... as pictured below... all the kids and teachers had them on. They made SUPER CUTE holders for Valentines... tin man head things - buckets with a lid. also pictured. I feel so blessed that we got into this school for next to NO MONEY... truly a blessing.

oh, and I find it funny that I WORK at Friendly's and I didnt give out the free kids cone coupons... but Maris got at least 4 of them today in her valentines... haha

Drawing Challenge was just a doodle today... I had pirates on the brain apparently. Gotta love how the mind works. Well, time to go do a word puzzle or two and fall asleep. Too much going on up in my head for my own good. Goodnight!

80's Rollerskating Night and Drawing Challenge Day 17

Tonight was my Mom's Night out - 80's Style! I got my NKOTB shirt (that I wear regularly anyways) and my fire engine red skinny jeans and rocked the skating rink. I only skated to the songs I liked like I used to back in the day... I own NO hair products... so no teasing up the hair today... I tried but it seemed to only flatten it a bit. I am a child of the 80's.. not really of age to tease yet so that fad was before my time lol I DID used to rock the crimped hair and side pony tails though! My hair wasnt long enough for the pony. Having a bit of a love affair with my red pants! I never want to take them off!

Drawing Challenge f the day : favorite plant. My mind didnt immediately go to flowers, although as I was drawing this, I wanted to veer into drawing some black eye susans or sunflowers... but ivy was the first instinct and thats what I'm sticking to with this challenge! I love love love seeing ivy take over walls and buildings... I had my own ivy plant in the old apartment that didnt survive the move - i miss it.

Inspiration

so today's drawing challenge is inspiration... so many people/things inspire me... but being that this is a drawing challenge, I went with one of my favorite artists - Peter Max. My love of stars and bright colors and my cartoonish style are all basically emulated from him... I was introduced to his work at a rather young age in my adolescence and I know his artwork inspired the Yellow Submarine animators so he lis linked with the Beatles - and who doesn't know of my undying love for them?? haha This is my imitation of one of his self portraits. I remember going on a cruise with my Mom when I was 16 and the gallery on the ship's featured artist was Peter Max. It was THE BEST! I wanted to buy one sooo bad but what 16 year old had at least a couple hundred bucks to spend on a painting or *print!* on a family vacation... haha

so there it is. I almost did a John Lennon sketch, but I went with a more direct approach art-wise.

Our Super Day plus Valentine's Cards and Draing Challenge! *Pic Heavy*

So the chickie's Valentines Day Party in pre K is Friday... and I made all her friends some cards... Im pretty stoked about how they came out!

We started our Palisades adventure today in fancy dress stores bc we wanted to try on fancy dresses - and to check out flower girl dresses for Maris. Its a year too early, but we were there and its fun. She was rocking them <3

who is a little ME taking pictures of his food and family like his Mommy :D
Carousel ride! J was afraid to sit on the horse bc it was high up and ROCKED instead of going up and down... they had teacup style seats you can spin so I sat in there with him. He LOVED it :) M rode with Miss Kimmie - that chickie is not afraid of much (other than porcupines and pufferfishies *new one*)

Disney Store!!! they have a touch screen interactive video screen/movie theater type area. They have tons to chose from and we picked Muppets (of course), Rapunzel and J chose Cars :)

this mirror is interactive with the merchandise. When you scan a product across it, it plays a small video in the 'magic' mirror related to that character. The kids did this for quite a while!

can you tell she's mine??? Haha we found a Walter doll!!! I am rather obsessed with the Muppets

shopping fun :)

this yogurt place in the Palisades is called Rehab and it is a m a z i n g. It is a self serve thing with like... 8 different flavor soft serve yogurts and 50-something toppings and they charge by weight at the end. The kids shared one and I got my own. sooooooo goood and not too expensive, between mine and the kids' I spent 6.42.

just a quick doodle being that we were out having a busy fun day! :) and now Glee is on and the kids are in bed. Good times.
